Birmingham Community Law Centre

Birmingham Community Law Centre

Unbound supports the Birmingham Community Law Centre as an aligned grant with Comic Relief and the Baring Foundation. The centre was established in 2013 following the closure of the Birmingham Law Centre. Unbound, with Comic Relief, supports the new centre, whose purpose is to “fight social exclusion in communities and to effect change in society by increasing rights awareness and using legal processes to fight poverty, inequality, and discrimination.”

The area where the centre is based has a long established migrant community, and the services that the centre provides concern both established migrant communities with leave to remain, as well as newer migrants with less settled status. In its first twelve months of operation, the centre saw 568 unique clients, made up of 34 different nationalities.
